Where do you live & how far will you travel?
I am based in Gauteng, more specific, Pretoria East. I travel once/twice a month to the Garden Route. As far as distance of traveling, I LOVE to travel, so feel free to direct your request to my contact details for further discussion.
What time of day do you shoot?
I simply love the golden look of the sun touching the earth. The only time of the day where we can get that look is with sunrise or an hour before sunset. It creates that golden, gorgeous, warm and soft romantic light for photos! It is best to plan your shoot around that {if the weather plays along!} With cloudy days, don’t worry – as long as it is not pouring, we can still shoot and be creative!
Should I get my makeup and hair done for the shoot?
YES! I highly recommend that =) The more effort you put in the shoot, the more of the WOW factor your photos will have.

What can I do to ensure beautiful photographs?
A photo shoot is meant to be FUN! Be yourself, laugh, be adventurous and just have a great time! The right LOCATION is key in creating beautiful images… Choose a location that has a lot of natural light so that I can play with my best friend, LIGHT! =)
My biggest piece of advice would be to look like a unit. Avoid looking like an unfinished Rubix cube. Choose a colour scheme and mix and match accordingly. Natural toned colours or soft pastels usually look amazing! In other words, coordinate your wardrobe as best possible! It’s not lame, it will look good, I promise! I’ve been doing this for long enough to know you’ll be much happier with the end result! This will give you beautiful natural looking photos and it won’t look like I gathered a few strangers from the street to have an impromptu shoot.
This is a great tip for the ladies: GET YOUR MAKEUP DONE BY A PROFESSIONAL.. Yes, I’m yelling a little. I can’t stress enough what difference this makes to your photos. Even if you only want a natural look, PLEASE still book a professional artists and ask for that.. I promise you will thank me afterwards! Budget for it or ask for an early birthday gift, whichever way, just do it.. I’m happy to make recommendations.
What can we wear to the shoot?
Are travel, accommodation and postage included in my packages or are they calculated separately?
Travel fee of R5 per km will be charged from Pretoria East, Equestria.
If the location is over 100km from Pretoria East and you expect me to be at the location early and or end late, overnight accommodation at a reasonable price will have to be booked.
Courier fee (if you optioned for a USB rather than digital delivery) is not included. An additional R99 will be added to your invoice to send your parcel via Aramex (door to door delivery).
Are our digital files watermarked?
No, your final high resolution images won’t have watermarks on them. I only watermark the images that I use on social media.
How many pictures will we receive?
It all depends on the package you book. Click here to view my packages.
Do we receive the RAW, unedited files?
No, sorry, I don’t give any undedited or RAW files! Editing is part of the creative process and my brand and therefor I do everything myself. You will receive your high resolution photos via an online download link, so that you can print and use them as you want =)
How long does it take before we receive our photographs?
How do we go about to order a photo book?
- Choose the type of photobook that you want – I will then send you an invoice
- Please pay the 50% non-refundable deposit fee. I only start working on the book once I received payment.
- Send me your favourite images of the shoot including the photo you want to appear on the front and back cover of the book {the front and backcover must be landscape photos!} I will design an print your book.
- Please allow up to 14 working days for your book.
What equipment do you use?
Having a nice camera doesn’t make you a photographer. A good photographer understand their gear and chooses the equipment that most suits their needs to create their art. A combination of talent, an eye for detail, time of the day, passion, love for what you do, people in the photograph, emotion, the perfect location and camera gear makes up a good photograph. By saying that, see below the equipment that I use:
- Canon 5D mark IV camera body
- Canon 24-70mm USM F2.8
- Canon EF 70-200 L USM F2.8
- Canon EF 100mm F2.8 Macro
- Canon EF 135mm F2.8
- Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG ISM Art Lens
Can you hold a date for me?
NO, sorry! I only book a date once I received the R500 non-refundable retainer fee.
Did you study photography?
YES! I first studied Bcomm marketing at Stellenbosch University for 3 years. After I graduated, I studied Commercial Photography at Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography.
What happens when the weather is really bad?
What is your policy on rescheduling?
Will my images be shared on Facebook and other social media?
If La’ane Photography’s photographs are published on Facebook, Twitter, blogs, magazines, or any other media, the necessary credit must be given.
What happens if I’m late for the shoot?
If you are running late, please let me know as soon as possible by calling me on 082 210 9662. As a natural light photographer the sun is my best friend. If you are late, keep in mind that your session will be shorter as we only have a few minutes of that golden late afternoon light. I know traffic can be hectic, but please plan ahead. If you are more than 15minutes late, the shoot will be cancelled and you have to rebook your shoot.
Can I choose the style that I want you to edit my photos?
Where will the photos be taken? Do you have a studio?
I do have a home studio in Pretoria East, but it is only for my styled / fine art newborn shoots. If you do want a studio shoot, we can rent a natural light studio at an additional cost.
Family, maternity, couple, portrait etc shoots are done on a location of your choice. After your R500 retainer fee (to secure your date) is paid, we can discuss the look and feel you want for your photographs. We can then work together to come up with the perfect location. Please keep in mind that most venues/locations do ask a venue fee.
What happens if the Photographer is ill?
When is the best time to do a maternity session?
When is the best time to do a newborn session?
The styled / fine art newborn session takes place within the first 5-10 days from birth. This makes it easier for me to pose the baby. If you book a lifestyle newborn session, anytime within the first month is perfect, but the sooner the better.
