FAQ

Where do you live & how far will you travel?
I live in a small town called George based in the Garden Route. With all the scenic amenities and untouched nature, the Garden Route compensates for much idealism concerning your dream photo shoot. As far as distance of traveling, I LOVE to travel, so feel free to direct your request to my contact details for further discussion.
What time of day do you shoot?
I simply love the golden look of the sun touching the earth. The only time of the day where we can get that look is with sunrise or an hour and half before sunset. It creates that golden, gorgeous, warm and soft romantic light for photos! It is best to try and plan your shoot around that {if the weather plays along!} With cloudy days, don’t worry – as long as it is not pouring, we can still shoot and be creative!
Should I get my makeup and hair done for the shoot?
YES! I highly recommend that =) The more effort you put in the shoot, the more of the WOW factor your photos will have.
How do I make a booking?
  1. Go to the “contact me” section on my website
  2. Fill in your details and send me an email.
  3. I will reply as soon as possible with my packages and T&C’s
  4. After your decided on a package, I will send you an invoice.
  5. Please pay the 50% non-refundable retainer fee to secure your date.
What can I do to ensure beautiful photographs?
A photo shoot is meant to be FUN! Be yourself, laugh, be adventurous and just have a great time! The right LOCATION is key in creating beautiful images… Choose a location that has a lot of natural light so that I can play with my best friend, LIGHT! =)
What can we wear to the shoot?

It is a great idea to choose a colour scheme and dress according to that… The jeans with white shirts are old fashioned. Click here to see examples of great colour choices.

Are travel, accommodation and postage included in my packages or are they calculated separately?

20km to and from George are included in my packages. Thereafter R5/km will be charged.

If the location is over and hour’s drive from George and you expect me to be at the location early and or end late, overnight accommodation at a reasonable price will have to be booked.

Postage fee is not included – R50 will be added to your invoice to send your parcel through the Post Office with a tracking number. If you want to use your own courier, you are more than welcome to do so.

Are our digital files watermarked?
No, the images on your cd won’t be watermarked. I only watermark the images that I use on social media.
How many pictures will we receive?
It all depends on the package you book. Please send me an enquiry for more details.
Do we receive the RAW, unedited files?
No, sorry, I don’t give any undedited or RAW files! The editing is part of my brand and therefor I do everything myself. You will receive a personalized cd with all your beautiful images in High res, so that you can print and use them as you want =)
How long does it take before we receive our photographs?
Depending on the season and how busy I am, please allow anything between 4-6 weeks for your images to be done. I will notify you via email or an sms when your photos are done and ready for pickup.
How do we go about to order a photo book?
  1. Choose the type of photobook that you want – I will then send you an invoice
  2. Please pay the 50% non-refundable deposit fee. I only start working on the book once I received payment.
  3. Send me your favourite images of the shoot including the photo you want to appear on the front and back cover of the book {the front and backcover must be landscape photos!} I will design an print your book.
  4. Please allow up to 14 working days for your book.
What equipment do you use?

Having a nice camera doesn’t make you a photographer, but a good photographer understand their gear and chooses the equipment that most suits their needs and allows them to create their art. A combination of talent, an eye for detail, time of the day, passion, love for what you do, people in the photograph, emotion, the perfect location and camera gear makes up a good photograph. By saying that, see below the equipment that I use:

  • Canon 5D mark IV camera body
  • Canon 5D mark II camera body
  • Canon 24-70mm USM F2.8
  • Canon EF 70-200 L USM F2.8
  • Canon EF 100mm F2.8 Macro
  • Canon EF 85mm F1.8 USM
  • Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG ISM Art Len
Can you hold a date for me?

NO, sorry! I only book a date once I received the 50% non-refundable retainer fee.

Did you study photography?

YES! I first studied Bcomm marketing at Stellenbosch University for 3 years and after I graduated there I studied Commercial Photography at Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography.

What happens when the weather is really bad?

As no one can predict the weather, we will still shoot when it is cloudy, but if it is pouring, we will reschedule the session on an agreed date at the earliest date possible with no additional charge

What is your policy on rescheduling?

Life happens. I understand that unexpected things might happen. Please try and notify me Twenty-four to Forty-eight hours (24-48) before the shoot. If something unavoidable happens, we will find a time in the very near future that works for both parties.

What happens if I lose my CD with my images on?

All images will be stored on La’ane Photography’s hard drive for 3 months and then be deleted. Only images used for promotional purposes will be kept on file at my discretion. It is the Client’s own responsibility to backup the images that they received. La’ane Photography will not be held responsible for lost images. La’ane Photography is not responsible for loss or damage to the digital files due to circumstances beyond the photographer’s control.

Will my images be shared on Facebook and other social media?

La’ane Photography will post a sneak peek of a favorite shot(s) from the session on Facebook.  After the completion of all images, the full album will be uploaded on FB as well as on the photographer’s website for promotional purposes. Please let me know IN ADVANCE  if you do not want me to post images on FB  or on my website.

If La’ane Photography’s photographs are published on Facebook, Twitter, blogs, magazines, or any other media, the necessary credit must be given.

What happens if I’m late for the shoot?

If you are running late, please let me know as soon as possible by calling me on 082 210 9662. Please be aware that time available for your photo shoot may be shorter due to the delay. If you want to book for the extra time lost, you are more than welcome to do so, I charge R500 per hour extra.

Can I choose the style that I want you to edit my photos?

No! Editing is part of my unique brand =) Clients that book me, book me for my unique style and editing. The final post production of editing styles and overall look of the image(s) are left to the discretion of La’ane Photography.

Where will the photos be taken? Do you have a studio?

No, I don’t have a studio for big groups. I am a natural light photographer and LOVES to play with light. The location of the photo session is up to you, but I can assist you should you have trouble deciding. Once your photo shoot date is booked we will discuss what type of feel you are looking for in your photographs, we can then work together to come up with the perfect location.

I have a small newborn studio in George, and all newborn photos are taken there – except if you book a lifestyle newborn shoot.

What happens if the Photographer is ill?

Illness can always happen, it is part of life and no one can predict that. We can reschedule our shoot to a date that will suite both parties OR if that is not suitable, I will refund the amount you already paid.

When is the best time to do a maternity session?

I suggest we book your session when you are between 28 – 32 weeks pregnant.

When is the best time to do a newborn session?

The studio newborn sessions take place within the first 5-12 days. This makes it easier for me to pose the baby. If you book a lifestyle newborn session, anytime within the first month is perfect.

I saw newborn photos on your website, can I have those exact same poses?

I can’t guarantee any poses as it depends on the baby. Newborn safety is of utmost importance to me and I won’t force any pose on a newborn. I will however try my best to capture those images.
