Pretoria Fine Art Newborn Photographer – Jax

I am a professional Pretoria Fine Art Newborn Photographer situated in the East. Newborn shoots are my absolute favourite. This is a very special genre and I think you need to have a specific personality to be a newborn photographer. Patience is key =) The newborns look so peaceful on photographs, but that is not always what happens behind the scenes. I think I pretty much have a 50/50 ratio of newborns that slept right through the shoot and newborns that were very fussy. Jax was a dream to photograph, he slept right through his whole session.

We decided to combine the styled newborn shoot and fine art to have best of both worlds. The styled newborn shoot is where I wrap and pose the newborn babies in baskets, crates and other props. I wrap them in different materials to create that womb like images. The fine art images are composites and most of the work is done in post production (Photoshop).

Here are a few packages that I offer:

1. Maternity – This shoot is usually done between 28-32 weeks of your pregnancy

2. In theatre C section (if the hospital allows) – Please contact your hospital and confirm with them that they do allow photographers in theatre before you book

3. In hospital Fresh 48 – This shoot takes place 2-3 days after birth

4. Styled Newborn Shoot – This shoot takes place in my home studio in Pretoria East

5. Lifestyle Newborn Shoot – With this choose you have the option to have the shoot in the comfort of your own house OR we can rent a natural light studio

Newborn safety is of utmost importance to me. I am part of INPA (International Photography Association) and will always ensure that:

  1. The studio is clean
  2. The studio is heated
  3. I never leave the newborn unattended
  4. The props that I use are safe
  5. The baby is warm and comfortable
  6. I never force babies into any pose. If I see the baby is uncomfortable, I adapt accordingly.
  7. I always shoot with a mask and use sanitizer during the shoot

Tip) It is a good idea to book your newborn shoot while you are pregnant. We can book a tentative date and you can just keep me up to date when your baby is born. Styled / fine art newborn shoots need to be done within the first 5 – 10 days from birth.
