I am a Pretoria based maternity photographer, but travel a lot. I am so blessed to be able to travel quite frequently to the Garden Route in South Africa. The Garden Route has a variety of beautiful photo locations. It offers long beaches, cliffs, forests, mountains, rivers and the Karoo. Zikho and I decided to do a shoot where we have the ocean as the backdrop. This location in Mosselbay, Garden Route, South Africa, is one of my favourite.
Zikho put in so much effort for her shoot and it surely showed in the end result. She rented her dress from Cocoberry. I just love it when clients where long dresses, it looks so feminine and we can do so much with the dress. The weather was perfect and we had an amazing day.
So after your maternity shoot, what is next? It differs from family to family, BUT I would highly suggest to budget ahead and book an in hospital Fresh 48 and newborn shoot. Fresh 48 photography is a special session for those new families who want the first few hours of their newborn’s life captured without having the entire labor or birth documented. They’re usually taken in the hospital where you’ve given birth – but of course if you give birth at home they can be captured in your home environment as well. The essence of them is to capture those first fresh 48 hours with your baby – which is where the term ‘Fresh 48’ comes from. Babies change so much, and they change so fast!!! One minute their little fingers and toes are wrinkly, and the next they’re not.
