Pretoria Family Photographer – du Plessis Family

I love city shoots. No seriously, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! There is just something magical about the energy in a city. The different architecture of the buildings, the buzz of the streets, the people passing by and just the whole look and feel of it.

This venue is gem in Pretoria CBD and I am so glad I found it. The venue fee is quite steep, BUT it is one of a kind. This location is quite safe, keeping in mind that it is in the CBD. The drive to the location can be a bit scary, but just make sure you lock your doors, nothing valuable can be seen from outside into your car and you don’t stop anywhere unnecessary.

We had the most beautiful sunset on this rooftop. I drove away from that shoot with so much excitement. I couldn’t wait to download and start editing the images.

If you want something “different” for a shoot, this location is definitely a gem. Tip: Late afternoons, 60min before sunset is the best time to shoot here. The light is soft and golden and creates that perfect romantic look and feel. Get a bottle of champagne, and pop it on the rooftop!

I get this question a lot: MY KIDS ARE SO BUSY. WE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO GET PERFECT PHOTOS. WHAT IS THE BEST AGE TO DO A SHOOT?

1. Kids are busy. That is one of the characteristics of a toddler. I have photographed so many families in the past years and I almost get a tantrum on each shoot. It is normal for me =) Don’t stress when that happens. They usually calm down and we can get a few pics out of them.
2. Don’t expect your kids to smile and look into the camera for all the shots. They won’t =) Candid / documentary style moments are just as special. I always try to give guidance to get natural looking and “play” moments.
3. Kids grow up so fast. I recommend to book your family shoot and make the best of the session. Don’t expect too much of them, rather embrace the moment and let’s go with the flow and do what we can. Photographs are all you have as memories, so don’t wait any longer to book your session.
