Gela Portraits – Finalist for Mrs South Africa 2017

I was super excited when Gela contacted me to do portraits of her. I was even MORE excited when she told me the theme she had in mind. We brainstormed a bit and came up with the perfect concept {location, clothes, makeup etc!}.

Bringing people together is what I call “ubuntu”, which means “I am because of who we all are”.. Far too often people think of themselves as just individuals, separated from one another, whereas you are connected and what you do affects the whole world. When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of humanity – Desmond Tutu

Gela, one of the finalist for Mrs South Africa believes in the “spirit of ubuntu”, where we as community and South Africa can help each other to rebuild Knysna after the tragic fire that ruined the once beautiful green forests. Ubuntu also symbolizes the act of giving and receiving and it is only by helping one another that the community can rebuild what has burned down.
